Restore Agricultural Landscapes
(REAL)

TLC

Established Community Tree Nurseries for the REAL project containing different kind of tree species such as Neem, Moringa, Albizia lebbeck, Gliricidia Sepium, Acacia polyacantha and Faidherbia Albida.

REAL project is designed to address the critical environmental and socio-economic challenges faced by smallholder farmers in Tanzania's Simiyu and Morogoro regions through sustainable agricultural practices and agroforestry.

The initiative targets the restoration of degraded landscapes, the enhancement of biodiversity, and the improvement of livelihoods through increased resilience to climate impacts.

It aims to implement a series of environmentally sustainable methodologies that include the use of nitrogen-fixing plants like Tephrosia, conservation agriculture, and farmer-managed natural regeneration to revitalize soil health, increase crop yields, and promote sustainable land management.

The expected outcomes of the project are multifaceted, focusing on both environmental regeneration and socio-economic advancement. By increasing agricultural productivity and diversifying income sources, the project seeks to significantly raise living standards for local farmers.

Additionally, the initiative will contribute to global environmental goals by enhancing carbon sequestration capabilities, thus providing tangible benefits within the context of Tanzania's commitments under international climate agreements.
