Total LandCare is seeking qualified firms or individual consultants to conduct the Mid-Term Evaluation (MTE) for the SAMALA project in Malawi, a vital five-year initiative focused on restoring degraded landscapes and supporting sustainable rural livelihoods across Mzimba, Kasungu, Ntchisi, and Dowa districts.
The successful applicant (firm or individual) is expected to demonstrate proven expertise in conducting mixed-methods evaluations of large-scale, complex development projects, particularly those related to Sustainable Land Management (SLM), Natural Resource Management (NRM), and rural livelihoods in the Southern Africa context. Essential qualifications include: strong analytical skills in applying the OECD-DAC criteria; experience with quantitative survey design (including defining and measuring adoption); ability to conduct deep analysis of gender dynamics and cross-cutting issues (youth, inclusion, climate resilience); and a track record of delivering high-quality, actionable recommendations tailored for adaptive management and policy influence.
Lilongwe, Lusaka – 10 June 2025 – The International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN), in collaboration with Total Land Care (TLC), is pleased to announce the official launch of the Human-Wildlife Co-habitation (HWC) Project within the Malawi-Zambia Trans-Frontier Conservation Area (MAZA TFCA) valued at € 1,123,795.20. This is an initiative of the SADC TFCA Financing Facility, funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through KfW. The project seeks to address the persistent challenges associated with human-wildlife co-habitation (HWC) in key conservation hotspots in Northern Malawi and Eastern Zambia (See map).
